Privacy policy: Stock Alerts

What the app does

It lets shoppers ask to be emailed when a sold-out product is available again, and it emails the store owner when a product runs low.

Data we collect

• Shoppers: the email address they type into the form, the product variant they want, their page language, and the time they agreed to be emailed. We do not collect names, addresses, payment data or browsing history.
• Merchants: the store domain, store name and contact email, and the app settings. We read products and inventory levels (scopes read_products and read_inventory) only to detect stock changes and to write the emails.
• Email logs: the recipient, the type of email and whether it was delivered. Logs are deleted after 90 days.

How we use it

Only to send the alert the shopper asked for (one email per request) and the low-stock alerts the merchant switched on. We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or send marketing email.

Legal basis and consent

Shoppers tick a consent box before we store their email (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and shoppers are removed from the waiting list as soon as the alert is sent.

Who processes the data

Emails are sent through SMTP2GO. Our servers are in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany). The store owner is the controller of their shoppers' data; we act as processor.

Retention and deletion

A shopper's email is deleted after the alert is sent or when they unsubscribe or when the merchant removes it. When the app is uninstalled, all store data is deleted after Shopify's 48-hour shop redaction request. We honour Shopify's customer data request and customer redaction webhooks.

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at any time at info@buy-it.gr. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
